A Mouse in the House — again.
A Surprise in the pantry.
Harvest has been rumbling on around us for weeks, and this is the season when a few displaced neighbours inevitably try to move in. One mouse quickly becomes several, and that simply can’t be allowed, so measures are taken to discourage them. Lola and Toothless, (cats) would happily manage the situation, but they’re not permitted inside either.
Still, mice are such vivid, spirited little beings that it’s hard not to feel a fondness for them — at least until they raid my dry‑goods cupboard. This particular fellow and I shared a couple of startling encounters in the pantry before he finally took the hint and disappeared. I’ve painted him now, a small tribute to a lively intruder who has since moved on.
