Welcome to Art in Brittany!

Hi, I'm Elizabeth! I started offering watercolour and water-based media workshops in Brittany back in 2012 after years of teaching as a university lecturer in the UK. From my home on the edge of the beautiful Brocéliande forest, I run inspiring workshops and courses, welcoming artists of all abilities. I also travel across the region to teach and demonstrate for art groups and associations.

My workshops are designed to be friendly, encouraging, and supportive—helping you grow as an artist, whether you're just starting out or refining your skills.

'Technical skills can be learnt, but the ‘magic’ comes from your unique imagination. Understanding the medium by learning core skills will allow your creativity to fly!'
— Elizabeth Tomkins

Why Watercolour?

I love watercolour because it’s both simple and endlessly surprising. You don’t need much equipment, it’s easy to carry, and you can paint almost anywhere—from a studio desk to a field in the sunshine. It’s accessible, versatile, and full of possibilities.
